CharSet Checker

The CharSet Checker tests an uploaded font against a set of predefined parameters. These “check blocks” are categorised in Language Systems, Unicode Blocks and Character Sets and can be combined arbitrarily.
After a selection has been made, the font – TrueType, OpenType and WOFF formats are currently supported – gets checked against the Alphabet Database. A comprehensive report provides the user with the results to examine for further evaluation.

Unicode blocks

The Unicode Consortium has been releasing specifications to facilitate the use of digital type. While sorting characters in Unicode blocks is helpful for computers and applications, it is not a system designed specifically for depicting language.

Character sets

Different organizations like Apple, the ISO and Microsoft have defined their own character sets in the past, focusing on language systems as well as technical regulations. Some are presented for legacy purposes, others are still in use today.
